Black People Sue Police in Beverly Hills
Several African Americans sure the Police department for racial profiling. The plaintiffs include a handyman at a local church, a local high school player, and the mother of two young boys who claim that their families were signaled out because of their race. They handyman named Mr. Earthly claimed that he was called a bad name and had a gun pointed at him. "If you move, i'll shoot you" the police officer supposedly said. The handyman claims that he did nothing wrong. Yolanda Nash and her two young boys has just recently moved to Beverly Hills. One night, the two young boys were riding their bikes near home when a squad car approached then, searched and interrogated them. Apparently there is a 10 o'clock curfew that was rarely enforced. Co-captain of a local football claims he was pulled over 20 times int he last 18 months. The police say that he looks like a description criminal. he was never arrested or given summons. All the victims say that they just want to be treated like everyone else. This is important because it shows that there is still racism and it appears to be concentrated in certain areas.
